Using markers, colored pencils, collage, and lithography, Hannah is interested in mark-making as a means of storytelling. The collection of works on paper spans several different series inspired by found objects, constructed dioramas, and the artist’s own imagination.

You are going through a creative block, what will take you out of it?

Whenever I have a creative block my own overthinking and perfectionism are usually to blame. The antidote is to make a lot of drawings very quickly and prevent myself from analyzing the content or the process as much as possible. Organizing the studio usually helps too.

What is on your bedside table?
All my recent impulse buys from used bookstores. Currently: The Psychology of Death in Fantasy and History, The Prose Edda and The Poetic Edda, The Plague, Nausea, Critique of Pure Reason and Against Nature.

What do you consider to be a safe space for your creative process?
Any time or place where I have energy, focus, materials, mental clarity, and a lot of drinking water.
